Welcome to the Lowell School coding class website!

Now at the domain www.lowell.click !

This is the website for the Lowell School coding elective class for Winter 2019-20. The class will be taught by Tim Slagle, father of a Lowell 6th grader, and meets Tuesday afternoons from 2:45 to 3:30pm in the middle school FabLab. You can reach him at: tim (at) lowell (dot) click .

This term we will be learning the basics of programming in Python, but with a twist - we will be programming in the Minecraft environment! The Raspberry Jam Mod allows us to write Python programs that do a bunch of actions in the Minecraft world, so as we learn the basics of Python, all our example programs will be doing things in Minecraft.

Students who already know the basics of Python can work on more complicated projects using the mod. There are a bunch of demo programs with source code available, and I have some project ideas, but you can of course come up with your own project!

Each class meeting will have instructions and resources on its own web page under Meetings, so if you miss a day you can check this website to catch up.
